Divorce is usually the result of a failed marriage and such event has to be documented for it to be used in legal transactions. Texas divorce records are one of the many types of documents that have been made open to the general public. This was done after the Freedom of Information Act has been implemented by the state.

The divorce certificates are among the most requested document in the state of Texas. With the increasing number of divorce cases in the state, the document is very useful in some legal transactions. This can be for processing government request such as dependent and property declaration. In addition to that, once an individual has been divorced, he/she needs to present the legal document in order to process another marriage. Checking on the marital status of an individual is also another use of a divorce record.

Divorce records would contain the information about the separation of a couple. One would know details such as the couple's marriage date and place as well as where and when the couple got separated. However, some important information kept away from the public to respect privacy of the concerned individuals. Only separations which have been registered since January 1968 are available at the office. Although the document is one of the public files available to the public, retrieval of the document can only be done by the divorcees or their immediate family members. Others may need to secure an authorization or a court order to gain access to the records of other people.

Most of the state releases a copy of a divorce certificate at the Vital Records Section but in Texas, such documents can only be obtained at the office of the County clerk where the couple got separated. A mail order can also be done to obtain a copy of the file. However, the result of the mail request may take a while. If going to any office is not possible in any way, one may use the Internet to get the needed information.

Today, it is now easier to obtain a copy divorce court records. This is all thanks to the Internet. The document can be obtained in just seconds instead of days and one can be freed from the hassle of going to any office. There are so many websites now that offer to search for the records for you. One can choose from a free search for a fee based search. A free search however, may not be able to provide an accurate result and in most cases the information may be lacking. This is the reason why many would go for the paid search because of the complete and reliable results that one can be obtained from it.
